Hello church family, I’ve been asked to provide a little bio for you as we come to join you in Kells, so here it is.
My name is Stephen, I’m 37, from Lisburn, married to Kathryn. My home congregation was Hillhall Presbyterian. Kat and I both moved to Legacurry in our early twentys. Kat was head of Geography in Lisnagarvey High School in Lisburn. She’s currently taking a career break for this year.
I was also a secondary school teacher of Religious Education and History. I was a church youth worker in Lisburn for a few years and worked in ministry in a church in East Belfast for two years before applying to P.C.I.
When not busy with ministry, you will usually find me on paddleboard, or up a mountain, or pretending I can still run. We love a good movie and both love music. We love having people over for food or board games.
I grew up being sent to church, but I’m not from a Christian home. A family tragedy at the age of 10, left me angry, and wanting nothing to do with God. In Year 8, a teacher, convinced me to go to an SU camp. It was there that the Holy Spirit softened my heart as the word was read and preached, and I knew I had to repent and follow Jesus.
Sanctification was slow, but I started getting serious about my faith at 16. The idea of ordained ministry has been on my mind for a very long time, but I have always found an excuse to run away from it. However, over the years God has broken down all my excuses and has led me to Kells.
We are both really looking forward to joining the church family here and being a part of what God will do in this community and beyond. We are really looking forward to getting to know you and be able to minister among you so that we may all grow as mature disciples of Christ, who make disciples.
